Is methadone ever prescribed for pain management and not heroin addiction?

Methadone is a very popular drug used for chronic and severe pain management.....more so than it is for heroin addiction.

It does not have to be given with analgesics, and not only for end of life issues......I've been handing out methadone for years!! Source(s): trauma, NICU, SICU, BMT nurse
