Does anyone know of a good inpatient pain management program? |
I had a botched back surgery 12 years ago. I have been seeing a pain management specialist for 10 years and I have an implanted pump with a catheter that delivers medication directly into my spine in the area of the nerves that are damaged. I have completely lost the ability to have a life and I know that I need physical therapy and physchological counseling but in the small town I live in they are not available and I can't drive myself back and forth from the closest city. Any one know of a place in Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, Tennesee, and other states close to these? These would be closest to home but I am willing to go anywhere necesssary. I need an inpatient program because I will be there alone. None of my family can rearrange things in order to be with me, but I need help now. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all. Avila Fernando, MD - Pain Management Center 700 S Saint Marys St San Antonio, TX 78205-3435 2102231181 Source(s): life Unfortunatly I do not know of a place. But have you asked your pain dr? If he or she doesn't know of a place, you could try asking other pain dr's in the area, or even in the area you are planning on going to for help. http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/... That website might also be able to help. Its for ppl that deal with chronic illnesses and pain. They are from all over the world, and you will likely be able to find somebody in one of the states you listed, and possibly find a facility. I will warn you though, my mom has gone to a few of these types of places, and they will most likely take you off your pain meds. These places are often detoxes as well. So if you have any plans on staying on any sort of pain meds, especialy narcotics, you might want to find a different alternative. Both my mom and I deal with chronic pain |
