Why is it difficult to find a pain management doctor in the state of Hawaii? Especially on neighbor islands?

I've been disabled due to 3 failed spine surgeries and am now unable to work. My pain management doctor has retired and I am finding most doctors are refusing to take chronic pain patients. I live on a "neighbor island" (non-Oahu) and have heard it's next to impossible to find ANY let alone a NEW one. Why?

Doctors tend to work where they are going to get the most clients. On small islands there's not a great demand. Remember for them it is a business. I have lived on a small island, Antigua, and it was impossible to find specialists. People had to travel to other countries for better medical help.

Are you able to obtain a TENS unit from your medical doctor ? This would help control the pain.

If you can get into the ocean, the surf works as a natural Jacuzzi and will help relax the tight muscles in your back.

I've enclosed a link where you can find a chiropractor hopefully in your area. They would be excellent to help you with therapy . .

you are going to have to make a big search to see what you can find in medical doctors on your island. Source(s): http://www.activator.com/qualified_docto...
