Is anyone aware of a title of diplomat in the medical field of pain management or anestesiogy/? |
This woman anestesiologist was my doctor at one point in time. I helped her set up a pain clinic and teach patients pain control. After 20 yrs. I decided to try and contact her. After searching AMA data bases I found her profile on a document and it said her position was diplomat. Does that mean she is an international diplomat, or does this have some seperate meaning in the medical field? What that probably means is that your physician is certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, thus a "Diplomat". In the medical field, once you finish your specialty training, you become eligible to take a specialized written/oral examination from a specific specialty board. [Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Surgery, etc.] This is a certification where you are recognized as top quality in your specialty. You might try this website: http://www.abanes.org This has nothing to do with a government positon. |
