Spinal cord and peripheral nerve stimulators, which use electric current to decrease the pain. the device with hair like wires is put on the spine and the battery is placed under the skin. the patient can increse or decrese the amount of current he receives.
the electrical signals block out the pain signals, there is asomething called the pain gate theory which explains how

pumps are also implated for pain intra thecally but they dont use currents.

I think it might be a spinal cord stimulator. A wire, or "lead," is connected to a small power source surgically implanted under the patient's skin. Low-level electrical signals are transmitted through the lead to the spinal cord or to specific nerves, preventing pain signals from reaching the brain. A magnetic remote control is used to turn the current on and off, or adjust its intensity.
