Prostatitis/Rectal pain and pelvic floor issues?

I've dealt with prostatitis for a few years now. The pain is more in the rectum now. I've seen a urologist, he checked the prostate, and it's not as inflammed as it used to be. I've tried anti-biotics and he doesn't think I need those anymore. There's no infection.

He thinks it's more of a muscle/nerve problem "down there." And he's sending me to a physical therapist. Anyone out there with prostatitis or pelvic floor pain(I know pregnant women can get that pain) gone in for that?

It's kinda funny because I just got that book. And then went to see my urologist and was going to ask him about it but seems like he's taking the same approach. And it does make sense.

Yes! and we aren't the only two guy s with this in the world.

You need to go over to
http://www.chronicprostatitis.com

You need to register and it costs 20 bucks because it is non commericial and run by a guy out of his basement, but it is well worth it.

A physical therapist who understands pelvic pain is a jewel when you find them. I went to one for quite a while. They usually specialize in women's health issues because it is much more common in women after childbirth.

There is a book called "Headache in the Pelvis" by Anderson and Wise (I think) that explains it in detail. You really have to get it and read it. The problem isn't the prostate at all. It's muscles in the area.

Lucky you for finding a doc who knows about this.

If the dr thinks its a muscle nerve pain then you should see a neurologist....
