37 weeks and pelvic pain?

I have had pelvic pain for several weeks now and understand that my body is getting ready, but it seems like last night or two it is becomming unbearable to sleep. Now it is uncomfortable to sit in chair at office. I have tried pillows, etc everywhere in bed. Will it be 20 more days of this or is it a sign of labor within a few days?

Wow, I feel your pain...literally. I am 36.5 weeks and I have had pelvic pain on and off since December. Last night I wasn't able to sleep for more than 20 minutes at at a time without waking up in pain. Unfortunately it doesn't mean that labor is close. Hang in there. Some times a heating pad or a warm bath or a message before bed helps. If nothing more, it helps relax me. One Tylenol is safe and gives a little relief. I also sit on an exercise/birthing ball throughout the day. This helps ease the pain when sitting and actually lessens the pain before I go to bed. My doctor suggested physical therapy for my pain when I first discussed this with him, but working full time and having other children I couldn't commit to PT appointments 3 x weekly. I also researched a chiropractic method called the Webster Technique. I didn't try this because I live in a rural area and the closest chiropractor certified in this technique is 2 hours away. You can check out the web sites below for information on the Webster Technique and to find a doctor in your area. I've also heard that acupuncture is helpful. Talk with you doctor, he/she may have some helpful suggestions. Try to be positive, although it is not easy when you are sleep deprived and in pain, your little one will be well worth it! Your body is just stretching. Keep yourself limber, and try to change positions often. You may still have to wait the three weeks before you have the baby.
The babies weight is probably putting pressure on your nerves and causing the pain. It is common and uncomfortable. Try shifting the weight by getting on your hands and knees and rocking. Believe me when I say that is the easier of the pain you will experiment! Good Luck
You're safe to take Ibuprofen at this point (though I'm sure some will disagree) , and I sure would!

Warm baths help (not hot!) and also when it's really bad, relieving the pressure by getting on your knees with your head down on a pillow just to get the pressure off your cervix.
Believe it or not, in a couple of weeks, you will not even remember this!
It's not a sign of labor per se, (that feels more like cramps) but it is a sign that your baby is growing nicely!

I had this problem when I was pregnant I couldn't even lay down because I couldn't get up without my pelvic bone popping. When I sat down my pelvic bone popped. I would have to sleep sitting up, because I was in so much pain. I just had to take things very easy. Nothing that I did helped it. It was wasn't a sign of labor for me. Try sitting up when you sleep I just propped pillows up, or I ended I sleeping on the recliner.
