Anyone in their 20s or 30s suffering from chronic pelvic pain? Has it changed your life? How do you deal with? |
it without getting depressed and frustrated? Definitely suggest visiting http://groups.yahoo.com/group/erc... - that group is a lifesaver. Also, see www.endocenter.org for free help, and for more information on possible helpful surgical treatment, see specialist sites at www.centerforendo.com, www.drcook.com, and www.endometriosistreatment.org... Good luck and know you are not alone! I sometimes have very bad pains and not just at the time of the month. I went drs and found out I had Polycystic Ovaries. get yourself checked out..... YEP I KNOW WHERE YOU ARE COMING FROM. I DON'T KNOW WHAT COULD BE CAUSING YOURS. I HAD AN IUD BIRTH CONTROL AND THE DOCTOR PUT IT IN WRONG. IT WAS SO PAINFUL, I COULDN'T ENGAGE IN SEXUAL ACTIVITIES, SOMETIMES IT WOULD CRAMP UP SO BAD I COULDN'T WALK OR DO ANYTHING AND A LOT OF TIMES IT WOULD HAPPEN AT WORK. SOMETIMES I BLED FOR WEEKS STRAIGHT. ABOUT THE ONLY THING I COULD DO WAS TAKE WARM BATHS, TYLENOL AND IBUPROFEN, I WOULD GO TO THE HOSPITAL AND THEY WOULD JUST TELL ME THERE WASN'T ANYTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME AND THEY WOULDN'T GIVE ME ANY MEDICATION. LUCKILY THE IUD REMOVED ITSELF. Well, it is great that you had laparoscopy to confirm that you have endometriosis and tubal cysts (as opposed to not knowing what is causing your pelvic pain). I've had a few ovarian cysts that end up rupturing and causing pain (just had another ultrasound today as a matter of fact) and, yeah, it is hard to live with because a) it really hurts and b) nobody else gets that. Sure, if you had a broken arm, they would "see" the pain you were in, but because it is on the inside, nobody understands. I imagine that your condition is probably worse than mine because I have time in between cysts whereas you probably have severe pain every month. I'm sorry for you! I imagine that makes you dread your period arriving. Although I understand that endo is not curable, have you considered the various avenues for management? There are a few. |
