I was diagnosed to have polycystic ovaries syndrome. My doctor prescribed Althea contraceptive pills.?

I was diagnosed to have polycystic ovaries syndrome. My doctor prescribed Althea contraceptive pills. I havent started taking the pills. My question is,will this pill cause Hirsutism or excessive hair growth? what are the side effects of Althea?

The PCO will cause the excessive hair growth.. not the pills. Just get to know a good electrolysis person.

No - the excessive growth of hair is caused by the PCOS.

The pill is to lower your testosterone levels, and to balance your menstrual cycles.

almost all pills prescribed for PCOS have low androgenic index- they counteract hirsutism, and help with acne. So don't worry, if you had excessive hair growth, it will subside.
Common side effects of pills with low androgenic index are tender and enlarged breasts in the first few months, some nausea, and water retention. In addition, if you have a family history of blood clots, high blood pressure, or heart disease, make sure you work out and monitor your blood pressure (this is true for all hormonal birth control methods)
