Polycystic Ovary Syndrome? Help?

Ok well im a female and im 15 years old lately ive seen some unwanted facial hair under nose,And I have never had my period. Ever. Only discharge. I have watched some tv,and I learned about PCOS and I think thats why I don't have my period. i will be going to the doctor soon to see what she can help me with, but i feel really self conscience If anyone can help me get through this or by any way help me out that would be great and thank you so much!

Aww sweetie, I know what it's like. I was diagnosed at 19 but had suffered with it since I was 12.

You need to write down all the things that are bothering you with your health so when you go to the doctor you are prepared.

It sounds like you may have the hormonal imbalance. Don't give up hope.

Try www.verity-pcos.org.uk and go to the discussion bored. There's a section specially for teens so you can chat with them. And other sections to help you. It is a very supportive group.

Don't worry. It can be managed through natural and/or hormonal methods such as the combined pill. Doctors usually say it's not an issue until your 16 if your periods haven't started but if you are showing some PCOS signs they will hopefully take you more seriously.

Hope you get the help you need xx

Usually girls who have PCOS start their periods very young, that isn't to say you don't have it, everyone is different, but PCOS is diagnosed by ruling out other things, so the thing to do would be to go to the dr. tell him what your worries are and ask him to do a testosterone level, a thyroid hormone level, a glucose level and a trans vaginal ultrasound. These tests will help determine what it is or isn't.
I have it and I have never been overweight and didn't ever have any trouble conceiving but my testosterone level was off the charts.
I have facial hair, some hair loss and have gained a lot of weight the last few years, before that I was very underweight , the endocrinologists says I have it and the gynecologists says I don't have the body type and that my ovaries didn't look poly cystic, however last year I lost one ovary in Jan. due to a very painful large cyst and the other in October due to a cyst so large it cause my ovary to twist. I also had to have aortic valve replacement surgery, could have been due to PCOS, and just had my uterus removed last month to avoid endometrial cancer due to PCOS and the risk increased by the hormone I would have to take if I kept the uterus. So I think the gyne was wrong.
