Teens with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome)?

i was just diagnosed with it. i am starting birth control. i had repeatedly missed periods. i am 16. they took blood and checked my hormone levels.

1.what side effect did you have?
2.how where you diagnosed?
3.what tretment did your doctor give you?
4.what age were you diagnosed?

I'm not in my teens now (unfortunately!) but I was a teen when diagnosed.

1) I was overweight, had bad acne and irregular periods. I also had some issues with facial hair, though went for 'threading' treatments at a salon & that sorted that out.
2) Medical history, asked about symptoms, blood tests and an ultrasound.
3) I was put on the birth control pill and took metformin, though soon came off the pill as I somehow got every side effect possible with whichever one I took. I was also told to lose at least 3.5 stones otherwise there was a very high chance I'd develop diabetes due to the insulin resistance.
4) 17.

1. No period, excess hair, etc.
2. Went to the doctor missing period, actually not having a period at all.and for the facial hair, and weight gain.
3. I put on birth control, and I am on a diet which I have lost almost 40 pounds since Jan 1st. My treatment will be a little different since me, and Hubby will be TTC in a couple of month.
4. In my late teens.
