Polycystic Ovary Syndrome? |
ok last night I was looking at something and I happened upon a link to this disorder and I was looking at the symptoms and thinking...omg, is this what is wrong with me? http://women.webmd.com/tc/polycystic-ova... out of the symptoms listed there, I have: # Acne. # Weight gain and have trouble losing weight. # Hair growth on the face, back, or chest. # No periods or irregular periods. the high blood sugar I don't know about cause I've never been tested. So all that aside...do you think I could just be overreacting or is there a possibility (how much?) that I could have this? Do you know how common it is? How do they test for it? If I do have it...how long do you think 'too late' is to start treating it for fertility reasons? I've had my period since Dec 25 1999...so about 7 and half years. Does it develop at anytime or is it just something you have since you got your period? my mom is making me an appointment at her gyno so I can start my physical I was just diagnosed with PCOS, and I have had a regular cycle for 12 years before now. The insulin levels in your body could result in the weight gain and trouble losing the weight. It is important to get on an insulin resistance diet to combat that and also to help prevent you from becoming diabetic. It is a fairly common thing, especially in overweight women. There is no "too late" in the PCOS world. Typically Metformin is prescribed to regulate your hormone levels and your insulin. I was on Metformin for two weeks after being diagnosed, and I have already conceived (it only took two months). There are just a few obstacles to get by with PCOS, but it is totally managable and you will be fine. Probably its PCOs. There is nothing to worry about. Being stressed will only spoil it further. Its recommended to consult your doctor . Metaformin helps in regulating your periods...how? Its not uncommon to have PCOs so you really dont worry. As per suggested by most doctors, try metaformin 500mg twice daily for as long as your periods come regularly. I have used it and it works. There are no really any solutions for PCOs but this is one medicine that seem to have worked according to the research. Metaformin in ususally used for diabetic ppl. Please dont think that you would be diabetic. yes, you may have some problem in concieving but thats not the end of the world. Dont worry and dont stress out. I have PCOs and am under treatment. Good luck and God bless. Experience I have PCOS. My gyn did blood tests and a pelvic ultrasound. The pelvic ultrasound is where you actually get to see the cysts on your ovaries if you have any. Not all people with PCOS have cysts. Don't worry about it... everything will be okay. If you need someone to talk to feel free to email me. Definitely asked to be tested - let the doctor know you feel that you may have this. I was just recently diagnosed with PCOS because I have been really bad with my period for years. There are 2 ways to 'treat' PCOS. Go to a doc, get put on Met. It works for a few...and the rest, it makes sick. When your hormones keep getting more unbalanced (PCOS in basic terms is a hormone imbalance) then your doc will want you to take an antidepressant. To help you, right...but they won't tell you that those meds will actually shut down parts of your brain the longer you are on them. They also won't tell you that the meds suck vitamins from your body...so you can never get ahead. :) Your cravings will get worse, then they will want you on other insulin meds...Your acne will keep getting worse...and you will keep gaining weight faster...because you are only TREATING THE SYMPTOM, NOT TREATING THE HORMONE IMBALANCE. :) A great place for support for PCOS is www.soulcysters.net. Thousands of ladies just like you! Oh...conventional doctors will refute this til the cows come home but sister...there are people curing ovarian cysts. http://curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=8318... And the ONLY way I was able to lose weight was with a natural doc. (www.hotzehwc.com) GOOD LUCK and just remember... you can do it the drug way or the natural way. And it's your choice...no one else's. :) Best of luck... |
