What are the symptoms, and what treatments did the dr put you on for it! PCOS or PCOD (disease) is a problem of mostly young women (15 - 25 years of age). It is also known as the Stein- Leventhal Syndrome. Symptoms (in layman's terms): a. Irregular menstruation (with absence of menstruation for months sometimes) b. Weight gain c. Acne d. Facial hair growth (hirsutism) e. Infertility (in certain cases) The medications mentioned below vary according to the individual case and evaluation (not all applies), as well as the doctor's preference: a. Oestrogen b. Dexamethasone or Prednisolone c. Metformin (anti- diabetic drug, for weight gain) d. Cyproterone or Spironolactone (for hirsutism) e. Clomiphene (for infertility) It is best evaluated by a professional (Ob&Gyn), get a thorough examination done. Medications are not to be taken without doctor's advise, prescription and supervision.
