Polycystic ovary syndrome?

i have been trying to get pregnet with no luck...i have unusal hair grown...and i havent had a period in over 6 months...i think i might have pcos...what are the chances of me having a baby if i do have this?

very high. I suggest seeing a reproductive endocrinologist and having them run blood work to test to see if you have PCOS. However..it's very possible to have it even if you "pass" all the tests. The underying cause of PCOS is insulin resistance. If you treat that...you should be able to get pg as easily as anyone else. The best treatment for PCOS is a low carb diet, exercise, and adding an insulin sensitizing drug, such as metformin (1500-2500mg per day). You can still get pregnant if you have pcos. You need to go to the doctor, because there are some things he/she can help you with in trying to get the pcos under control.
My friend has recently been told she has PCOS, with the symptoms u have and the ones she has, i'd definately say yes. You will need to go to ur GP and he will send u for scans to see if u do have this problem. I'm not sure if it is cureable but with technology and medicine these days i'm sure it is. My advice would be to keep an eye on ur weight as weight gain is common and the dr's do say to try and keep ur weight to normal rather than over. Good luck with trying for a baby in the future.
You can get pregnant dear, there are many drugs that treat that problem before surgical intervention which is also simple. If you wanna know the treatment, just click on my avator & see my answer to the question just before you.I explained the treatment in details for all problems associated with pcos ,hirsutism, irregularity of menses & failure of ovulation & infertility.
I'm a 5th year medical student.
