What does polycystic ovary syndrome do? is it serious?

PCOS can be serious if not treated. It can cause you to not have your period and become infertile. It doesn't necessarily mean you will look more masculine, but it does mean that you have a hormonal imbalance that causes your ovaries to work incorrectly. You form follicles on your ovaries every month before you ovulate. Women with PCOS may form the follicles but not ovulate. You may also have an imbalance in your insulin levels. Many women with PCOS get diabetes. Please make sure you are getting treatment. Going too long without your period can be a contributing factor to cervical cancer.
