How easy is it to conceive with polycystic ovary syndrome?

Hello I know of 2 people who had babies 1 while taking metformin the other nothing. My friend is also pregnant now. I also have pcos and have 2 kids , But i didnt know i had it then found out a few yrs later when me and my new partner tried for a baby. clomid didint work for any of us though and we cant afford Ivf. My next plan was 2 try and lose weight 2 c if this makes a diff I've lost 2st up to now through healthy eating and exercise.I've had no luck as yet but its fun trying I didnt find my dr that helpful they really dont seem 2 know much about it though and I kept getting told you had 2 allready so 2 me they didnt seem that bothered so I decided 2 try and help myself just try and relax and good luck and baby dust 2 you and its not impossible just harder 4 us thats all Source(s): was a lot slimmer and younger when i had my 2 kids and didint know i had pcos then so tyr not to worry about it and it might happen
It truly depends on whether or not you have cysts at this time. PCOS can be minimized if you follow a healthy diet and lose some weight. SOmetimes the symptoms (not ovulating, etc) can be reversed if you get in shape and eat healthy.

Also, your Dr. can give you medicine (like clomid) to help you ovulate so you can conceive.

Good luck!
It can be more difficult but not impossible. I personally do not have it but I went through fertility treatments and there were women who were being treated for this with metiformin. I would discuss your options with you doctor.
It varies from person to person.
I have PCOS (no cysts, just the insulin factor) and was able to concieve our son without trying or with any meds.
It took us almost 3yrs to concieve our daughter. Once I was finally diagnosed with it and put on Metformin I concieved the same month as diagnosis.
I did Clomid prior to being diagnosed for 5 cycles and it did nothing for me. 1 month on Metformin and I was pregnant and now have a 6 week old baby girl.
Clomid is not for everyone, neither is Metformin...its best to talk to your dr and find out what form of PCOS you have and what treatment is best for you. Some PCOS patients have to be on both Met and Clomid to concieve.

depends on the severity of your condition, i was diagnosed with pcos and had two children with no medical help, my periods did come although very irregular, i know this sounds awful but you may need to lose weight but that is easier said than done with pcos, just try and watch what you eat, if you still have periods i would keep going, if after a year of trying to conceive go and see your doctor, good luck, hope it works out xxx
