I have just started trying to get pregnant but I have polycystic ovary syndrome and im 32 years old.? |
Has anyone here got the same problem? any tips? how long do I have to wait until I can get drugs for it? I heard there is a drug to stimulate the ovaries. can I get those straight away I do i need to try natually for some time before? I was diagnosed with PCOS as a teenager and told I would never concieve. I came to terms with it and thought no more about it till I reached my late 20s. I went back to see the GP and she refered me to a gynocologist. She just said there was nothing that could be done till I was ready to start a family but that because of my age I would recieve treatment straight away. At the age of 32 I changed my job and quit smoking at the same time. As part of my job I had to do some pretty intensive physical training everyday for 2 weeks. I hurt so much I went swimming every evening just to help my muscles relax. Two month down the line and I was feeling exhausted and constantly sick. Yes you've guessed it, I was pregnant. I believe the healthy lifestyle and excercise just kick started my body somehow. I read that miscarriage is more likely in women with PCOS. This could possibly be down to being a bit overweight. Try to get in the best possible shape before trying to concieve. Good luck! If you try to get pregnant with Vertility docter maybe ur relative, friends ....DONT ever go to Pacific Northwest Fertility in seattle at Swedish hospital building. don't use this place. Lee Hickock uses only "slam-dunk" testing designed to get you in and out as fast as possible, even when they know there are better tests that can be used. All they want is your money. He's an arrogant little creep with an ego as tall as the Space Needle. If you don't get pregnant, they'll tell you to go find another doctor. Their attitude is "we're too important to give you any personal attention." After five months paying out the nose to this fool and getting no results, I gave up. When you go to their office for an appointment, the people at the front desk don't even say "Hi" or ask you who you are, probably because they just don't care. This Lee Hickok quack never even did one of my procedures. Most of the time, we didn't even know if the person doing the procedure was a doctor or guy cleaning ouit the urinal. These people are the worst I ever saw and I strongly encourage you to STAY AWAY FROM THESE IDIOTS! He has to jam through as many poor suckers as he can to pay for all of his bull$hit magazine articles claiming to be the best doctor in the state. Ha, what a joke. Having a baby is a stressful time in your life. Don't make it worse by getting in line behind all his other dissatisfied customers who get the same indifferent level of service. THESE PEOPLE SUCK. THEIR SERVICE IS A MEDICAL SCAM!!! Hi, congrates on trying to concieve. My friend had the same as you and tried for about a year with no luck, the doctor prescribed Clomid (dunno how you spell it sorry) which makes your eggs bigger so theres more chance of you concieving, she tried the polycystic diet too and still nothing was happening. Then someone advised her to try reflexology, dunno how much it cost but its booked in blocked sessions of about 7-8 weeks. She had about two lots of blocked sessions and within the 2nd lot she fell pregnant. She now has a 7th month old son. Maybe its worth a shot. The reflexologist always advises you what your body needs and what it doesn't. She found it really helpful and best of all she got what she longed for... a beautiful baby. Good luck Hiya, i too have PCOS and have been referred to a fertility specialist. im going through a similar time at the mo as im wondering when i will receive medication too. My doctor has taken blood tests, and has done ultrasound scans etc etc and has told me to lose some weight so i can lower my BMI. sometimes this will be enough for us to conceive naturally (which would be the best thing all round) im going back to see my doctor in 3 months, so she'll re-assess it then. Im only 21, so they might start you on medication quicker (no offence!!) unless you have a little bit of weight to lose like me. Clomid is the drug they prescribe to stimulate the eggs if you are not ovulating. if they havent already get the doc to refer you to a fertility specialist. Hope this helps, everyones treatment will be different, but thats my story so far. Good Luck xx I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 16. I had surgery to drill my ovaries and remove cysts from them and my tubes. Not that we still weren't careful but my bf (at the time husband now) got pregnant right before I turned 18 and were 18 and 19 when my son was born. Here we are four and half years later and we are expecting our second baby which we got pregnant with easily. Talk to the doctor about your options. I still have cysts and such which have been showing up on sonograms (not just pregnancy sonograms but sonograms I've had even inbetween the pregnancies). I would try first and if it doesn't happen within 6 months to a year then I would talk to the dr and see what he/she recommends. There is still hope for those of us with PCOS! I'm proof! best of luck! I have PCOS and a 2 year old, so it is all possible. After a year of trying my doc gave me Clomid (the drug you are referring to). It has quite a lot of side effects and can only be taken for 6 cycles in a lifetime. 4 cycles did nothing for me. I then went to see a fertility specialist who put me on metformin- 6 months later I was 3 stone lighter and pregnant. Clomid stilumates your ovaries directly, but Metformin addresses the underlying insulin resistance that PCOS is characteristic of. I know losing weight can itself help, but this is often made more difficult for PCOS girls as part of the actual illness. A few months on that might just sort out your hormones soyour body conceives naturally. Worked for me, and am now in month 1 of the second attempt! Good luck to both of us! Hi I've got pcos as well so know what your going through. It depends on where you live to how long it takes to be put on any drugs I waited about 6 months after being diagnosed. You need to see a fertility specialist and have scans and blood test before you will get any Drugs. Your regular dr can't prescibe them for you. You have to be monitored closely as sometimes it can overstimulate the ovaries which can be dangerous. The drug you are on about is clomid but its not for everyone. it doesn't all ways work. It didn't for me. There is also metformin this is prescribed if you are insulin resistant this should be checked out as well. If you are over weight a good idea would be too try and lose some [difficult i know but it is possible I have managed 2 lose 2 stone in 10 months} this can help the drug to work better. Try to exercise and follow a healthy diet. Cut out junk food as much as possible. Drink plenty of water. Take folic acid supplements. Take time out for yourself. Stop drinking alcohol and smoking. Try charting your bbt and cm fluid for 3 months to see if you ovulate or not. I have two children which I had before I knew I had pcos and I was a lot slimmer then . I also think that because I didn't know I wasn't stressed which doesn't help when your trying for a baby. Good luck and I hope your sucessful |
