I have Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) an i am trying for a baby?

I have Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) an i am trying for a baby i already have a daughter who is 3 years old, i have just found out that i have Polycystic ovary syndrome and i am wondering if anyone out there has this an still have had a Children and what did they have to do and go through

Yes, I too have PCOS and I have an 8 month old son. I had to try to lose weight and was put on Metformin/Glucophage (as I had insulin intolerance) and Clomid/Clomiphene (to stimulate ovulation). These 2 drugs together and the weight loss allowed me to conceive within a month of starting them. Prior to that we had been trying for a year and a half. I did not have this- but a friend of mine did. Her doctor put her on a low dose of Metaformin because it has been proven to help- the problem with that is you have to play close attention to your sugar levels to keep them up. I would say to get in with your OB and get him/her to give you the best advice on what route you can take. good luck!
I have PCOS and am 16 weeks pregnant. We were not actually trying for a baby, so it came as a bit of a shock to us.

I have been talking Metformin for years, this seemed to regulate my periods and I believe it was from taking this, that I got pregnant.

A friend of mine also with PCOS took Metformin and Chlomid to stimulate ovulation. She has two children.

With PCOS their is a higher chance of miscarriage, however once you have hit around 12 weeks, this becomes the same as a none PCOS sufferer.
I had a lot of trouble getting pregnant for one thing. The syndrome or disease was also responsible for a nasty miscarriage I had as well. You are at a higher risk for miscarriage than most. Once pregnant you will need to closely watch your sugar levels and you may have to go on insulin just during pregnancy. It does make getting pregnant more challenging. I have 3 sons. But they are 8 and 7 years apart in age because of the problems I had getting pregnant. My oldest is 17 on the 28 and my youngest is 15 months old. I didn't want my kids so far apart in age either. The youngest was a surprise because after the birth of my second son we tried for 4 years to have another. Then I was told I would not conceive on my own again without fertility drugs. So we didn't do that of coarse. But, without warning or a hint shortly after my hubby turned 40 we found out this little guy was on the way. I had to take insulin the whole pregnancy which was no big deal. You also have a higher risk of having premature birth as well. My 2 youngest sons were 5 weeks, and 2 weeks early. You have to have patience through the process and not give up hope. Good luck!
I just recently found out I had PCOS after 16 months of trying to conceive. I started a diet specifically for insulin resistance and lost about 15 pounds. I went on Metformin for two weeks. That combination alone allowed me to have a normal period and I conceived immediately after. I'm now 13 weeks and have lost a total of 35 pounds. Really, the biggest thing for me was getting the weight off, though it was difficult before I got diagnosed because I didn't know why I was gaining weight in the first place! Good luck to you!
