Doc thinks i may have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) really upset :(? |
docs are sending me for a ultra sound as i have only had 2 periods out of 6 and have had reg periods since forever....and me and my partner are ttc and i feel so upset....what can i expect??? i always worry for the worse so in my crazy way i feel prepared for the worse...if that makes any sence . i feel like we are never going to concive we have been trying for 6 months both in our 20's xxx thanks in advance Hello sweetie, please please don't worry, I was diagnosed as havibg pcos when I was 26, I was put onto dianette, which acts as a contraceptive pill and also to balance out your hormones. I was on this till 2000, came off it and got pregnant within 6 months, I then went back on it till last year and then got pregnant after 6 weeks of trying at the age of 37! ( I'm having my baby by section on monday) Please dont be disheartend, even if you have it they can treat you (prob with Metformin) and give you fertility treatment to help you ovulate. Did you know Victoria Beckaham has it? Also Jules Oliver, I think there are a lot of myths around PCOS but Im living proof its not as bad as you might think!! Lots of love and luck, Dianne xx It's really not the end of the world, you know? I have had it since I was 12 and we are TTC. ( I am 21 now and happily married). There are options to help you... I know exactly how you feel my husband and I tryed to Conceive for two years and I was going to a regular OBGYN and he never mentioned PCOS...I finally switched doctors and just last wednesday the 20th of June I had a pelvic ultrasound and they found over 20 cysts per ovary..yikes..you have to have more than 8 per ovary to be diagnosed.. so then I found out I had PCOS...I was very upset at first because of all the negative things that I have heard about it but my New OBGYN is also a fertility specialist and he didnt seem to think that I would have much of a problem getting pregnant... so that very same day he prescribed a few meds... 1 is glycophage this is to lower my insulin levels because PCOS is belived to be linked with higher amount of insulin production creating more glucose to be stored in your body giving you extra weight around your belly..im not overweight but i have noticed a little weight gain.. the 2nd pill is provera and this is to stimulate your menstral cylce... the 3rd is clomid which stimulates your ovulation ... and the 4th was just an over the counter prenatal vitamin...I just started all these pills yesterday actually. Then on day 21 i have to have my progesterone drawn if it is not in the normal range that means that i didnt ovulate and the pills will start all over again with a higher dose of clomid and that will continue until it is in the right range and until i have a positive prenancy test. I know it is going to be a long road ahead but in the end it will all be worth it... so try and keep your head up and things will all hopefully work out in the end for the both of us.. take care own experience cut the carbs from ur diet, have good nutrition and good exercise. It will help u control this condition. Dnt worry. Relax. Read a lot abt this condition. find out. do some research. know all ur options. Everythign will work out fine. Good luck. U can do some research on www.webmd.com There is a lot of good info here: http://www.soulcysters.com/ Don't panic. PCOS is very common and doctors know how to treat it. your dr will probably start out by putting you on clomid, thats what they did for me, the keep upping the dosage until you ovulate then after a few months if you don't concieve they move on to the next treatment. your lucky you found out early, i have been ttc 2 yrs and found out a few months ago. lots of women with pcos get pregnant! lots of babydust to you, me and every other pcos couple out there 鈾? |
