Pregnancy, birth control & ec? |
I had intercourse on thursday night (about 4 days ago) and the condom broke, and my boyfriend isn't sure if he pulled out in enough time before he came. I haven't been on birth control for about 4 months now, and my period has been kind of irregular. I had planned on going the next day to planned parenthood to get ec, but when i went in to go take a shower when i got home, i noticed i was spotting, and for the past 4 months that i haven't been on BC that's how my period's been starting, as spotting for about a day or so and then actual bleeding for about another 2 days. So I figured I was going to be getting my period and didn't bother to go get the EC the next day. BUT... I only had some very light spotting for about a day and a half, and then nothing. Could I be pregnant, and is it too late for EC???? Yes, it's quite possible you are pregnant, and it is too late for most emergency contraceptives. Its pretty early you can take an EC up to 72 hours after intercourse. Spotting can be related to pregnancy, although I am not sure how long after conception spotting occurs. You are probably having side effects from the pill though. I had those for a long time! EC is MOST efficient in the first 72 hours. However still can be effective for up to two weeks post possible conception. Get it, now. it was too late when the condom broke..men have sperm in pre-***...so he doesn't have to ejaculate for you to get pregnant. It may be to early to determine. do you know around the time your period should be coming on, that would also determine if you're pregnant, but still you would have to wait to give it time to show up on a home pregnancy test. some people do the morning after pill, but that has to be taken 72 hours after having unprotected sex. you might just have to wait a minute and try to be more careful next time if you aren't pregnant. good luck!! You need to go to the doctor regardless of the situation. Every woman is different but it sounds like my first pregnancy. Good luck! There is always a chance you could be pregnant but I think a lot of the symptoms that you are showing could be caused by stress. I know that if you worry about it enough you can even delay your period. The only way to know is to go get tested....and it is to late for EC that must be taken within 72 hours....there is still a way to prevent pregnancy |
