If you get your tubes tied does that mean you can have all the sex you want without worrying about pregnancy?

If you get your tubes tied does that mean you can have all the sex you want without worrying about pregnancy?

Nothing is 100% guaranteed to prevent pregnancy except abstinence. Having a tubal ligation ("tubes tied") is, however, a pretty reliable method.

Some physicians cauterize (burn) the fallopian tubes, some use clips, some cut and tie the ends. The failure rate (consequent pregnancy) can depend on the type of procedure used.

Some people believe that tubal ligations can cause "post-tubal-ligation syndrome", in which the interruption of blood and nerves to that area causes discomfort, scarring, and increased risk for ovarian cysts.

My tubes were clipped 17 years ago. Perhaps "having all the sex you want" is an advantage, but please remember that "having all the sex you want" should mean staying with one partner. Tubal ligation does not protect against any STDs.

First of all, why would you get your tubes (are you referring to your fallopian tubes or...?) tied? It's completely absurd and dangerous to your health. And no, I highly doubt you can have all the sex you want. You probably still get "pregnant", but the fetus just wouldn't have a very suitable accommodation and you and the baby would probably suffer from life-threatening pains and complications. You and the baby could both very well bleed to death (or die some other way).

No. It is not 100%.
I had my tubes tied and went through two pregnancy scares. The stats my doctor gave me was 99.9%. So roughly 1 out of 1000 women get pregnant even with getting their tubes tied. However, that's if you are only getting them tied. If you get them cut and burned, there is no chance of pregnancy unless you were already pregnant when you had the procedure and the baby happened to survive.

Yes for the most part you can forget about getting pregnant. But it causes you to have longer periods and MUCH heavier bleeding. I wouldnt ever have my tubes tied if I had known this. I would have insisted that my husband have a vasectomy instead.

Yes, basically.
There always is a tiny tiny chance that their might be a malfunction, but that rarely happens,
so you shouldn't worry about that.

More or less. Sometimes the procedure doesn't work and some women will get pregnant after it's done but it seems to be a fairly rare occurrence.

There is very low risk. The doctor would explain that it is not 100%. they could give you the statictics on the numbers.

basically
