Possible Pregnancy and period?

I have been having heart issues for about three months. Its like a murmur or something or even an arrhythmia. I went to the cardiologist and he asked me if I had my period and I said yes. I did have my period but it was late. He told me to take a pregnancy test anyways, and that his wife had 2 periods then found out she was 4 months pregnant. Is it really possible to be pregnant and still have your period. I mean my period was like a couple weeks late and I cramped ungodly bad. But my heart hasnt been skipping as much since I missed my period. Ive also lost a lot of weight as well over the past few months idk if that helps at all. The doc said for me to take a at home pregnacy test but I dont think I should waste money on it for the simple fact that I did have my period. And how would a pregnancy effect your heart anyways? How rare is period and pregnancy , the only weird thing Ive done is i ate tomatoe noodles every night for dinner for like 2 wks idk what to do advice please.

I would take the test. Do it a couple of times just in case you get a false positive or false negative. I had my period the first two months both times I was pregnant. If you are pregnant that could cause your heart murmur or if you are, the heart murmur can put you at a higher risk of losing the baby or causing you more harm then the baby good. Get the test. You might thank your doctor later. It'll also save you a bit of money. When i was pregnant i had my period the first two months and cramps and everything. And for the heart I do not know how it is related but maybe you should take a pregnancy test just to be sure.
