Odd pregnancy symptoms...true?

ive heard that hemroids can be a sign of pregnancy and i dont doubt it at all i know i had them when i was preg.......and i dont understand why..could someone please help explain this to me.

Hi. Having hemorrhoids is not really a sign of pregnancy. It may be caused by pregnancy but it is not a sign of pregnancy.

Hemorrhoids are caused by increased pressure and straining. In pregnant women, since you are carrying another human being in your womb. Your body needs increased pressure to propel blood to the placenta for the baby. The uterus may press on the artery on the abdomen, which would then cause increase in pressure. This increased pressure causes engorgement of the veins. Pregnancy and abnormally high tension of the internal sphincter muscle (this is the muscle that controls bowel movements inside the rectum/anus and this is a involuntary muscle) can also cause hemorrhoidal problems.
