Missed period, cramps, needing the toilet all the time; negative pregnancy test. What could be wrong?

First of all it is not stress! I was born anxious and been stressful many times - but never missed a period!

I have had a blood test done because I sincerely thought I was pregnant - but it came back negative.

Symptoms are still there. I also have put on more weight around my tummy area, but not anywhere else!

I went to see the doctor today, who has put me on tablets for 3 months, in order to get me bleeding again!

I just do not know what to think. Ever since my period was supposed to start, I have had cramp; some severe others not, but nearly every day. I cannot hold my water in, so I had a urine test and it came back normal.

Has anyone else experienced this and with what outcome?

I am 38 but honestly do not think it is the menapause. I started my periods at 16 and my mother had her last child in her late 40s!

My last period was on the 23 of March and it lasted 5 days; it was a normal flow.

Please, can someone advise me on the possible cause?

Thanks

Again, I do not think it to be the menapause!

I had an operation middle of last year, because of bleeding non stop. I had too much oestrogen around my uterus, so they delt with it and since that time my periods have gone from 7 heavy day to 4 light days!

In November, I bled for 2 days and then my breasts became so sore that I could not wear a bra; I also went up a cup size. I did a test and it came back inconclusive, then a week later, I woke with terrible cramps and found tissue when bleeding!

Since that I have bled reguarly each month - until now!

perhaps u need to ask another doctor

It could be endometriosis. I have it, but my problems began a lot earlier in life. When i was 19. There is no test for it so i had to have sergery to find it. It's was a little extreme since i still have problems with it. Try birth control. It will not only regulate your periods, but it can be a cure for endometriosis if you do have it.

i would say it was the menopause ,you can be tested for that thou a blood test, i would ask for a scan, that way they no if its anything else x

Do you use any contraceptives? They can stop periods sometimes. Maybe it's to do with that? That's all I can think of at the moment.

sounds like ovarian cysts.

Have you had an ultra-sound to see if you may possibly be having a pregnancy that is developing outside of the uterus? This is very rare, but can happen. This procedure would also rule out cysts.

More than likely you may be entering peri-menopause which can cause a disruption of normal period cycles and can last for years prior to full menopause. It is often accompanied by randomly occurring hot flashes. I experienced some of the symptoms you mentioned with the exception of loss of bladder control. Every woman is unique.

They used depo injections followed by the use of the Mirena IUD to control my heavy random flows and it worked quite well for me after a couple of months. (A hysterectomy was too dangerous for me at the time). Ask your doctor if this may be suitable for you.
