Can a urinary tract infection be mistaken for pregnancy?

Can a urinary tract infection be mistaken for pregnancy? My girlfriend miss her period, had pelvic pain once in a while, says she is having "hat flashes". The last time we had sex was 2 months ago. She took 2 pregnancy test, both came out negative. surely, she would show positive if 2 months pregnant. !! Could this be a urinary tract infection???

Doesn't sound like one to me. She could be having pelvic pain from some sort of gynecological problem. If she is doing a home pregnancy test it is important to use the first morning urine as that is when the levels of HCG are highest and that is what shows up when you are pregnant. Home pregnancy tests are actually very accurate when used correctly so provided that she followed the instructions accurately, my guess is that she is not pregnant. A visit to her doctor is probably in order. If necessary, the doctor can order a blood test which will confirm for sure whether or not she is pregnant. Also, depending upon her age, perhaps she is beginning menopause, especially if she is experiencing hot flashes. Although most women don't go through menopause until later in life there are some women that go through it much earlier...sometimes because of medical conditions, so she really would be best to seek medical attention.

Hope things work out for her okay!

A pregnancy test should have come up positive by now. Signs of a UTI are frequent urination, burning, and urgency.

Sounds like she needs to go to the doctor.

How about she sees a doctor? That is the only way to tell what is wrong.

yes, she should see a doctor
