Anesthesia during the first month of pregnancy. Could the baby be harmed? |
My best friend just found out that she is one month pregnant. Two weeks ago she had surgery for a breast reduction and was under anesthesia, with pain medication for the week afterwards (I think it was percocet or oxycontin?). I had anesthesia at 6 wks. At first, drs thought I had appendicitis, then thought it was ectopic pregnancy, or a ruptured ovary, so they did a laparoscopy to investigate. My son, now 19 years old, was just fine. I, however, have a very high pain tolerance, so I did not take strong pain killers following surgery. I may have taken Extra Strength Tylenol, if I took anything at all. |
