My girl friend has one kidney. will this affect pregnancy?

she lost the right kidney. there was an artery wraped around it and literally squeezed it un till it was useless and dead.

She will need to watch her sodium and sugars closely. This also may lead to a higher incidence of pre-eclampsia.

My mom only has one kidney and she had 7 kids-including a set of twins.

I have 2 kidneys but they dont work normally. I had 8 pregnancies(7 deliveries) in 10 years. I did have lots of issues with my blood pressure, but we just kept on top of it.

She may not be affected at all. There are a lot of people who only have one kidney that lead healthy lives. But the extra fluid volume associated with pregnancy can cause some problems with people with only 1 kidney. She will probably be classified high risk, but should do just fine as long as her doctor keeps on top of her condition.
