HOW EFFECTIVE IS THIS COMBINATION AGAINST PREVeNTING PREGNANCY?

*condom
*spermicide
*one week of using birth control (the lo type) -- first time using birthcontrol ever
^^
any other forms of birthcontrol suggestions are great^^

Yea, all that should be plenty. Almost full proof, I'd say. He could get a vasectomy... but I don't know if he'd agree to that.

Let's get into statistics, though.

Condom --- 14% chance of pregnancy
Spermicide ---- 24% chance of pregnancy
The pill (MAKE SURE TO READ BOTTLE AND USE AS DIRECTED) -- 5%

.14x.24x.05=

You have a 0.2% chance of getting pregnant. Meaning, if you were to use this regimen 500 times and not follow instructions completely you would probably get pregnant. Check my sources for more options.

Now, were you to follow instructions perfectly:

Condom - 3%
Pill - 0.1%
Spermicide - 6%

So, doing everything perfectly... your chances of getting pregnant are...
0.03*0.001*0.06=

.00018%

So, you could have sex 555555 times and probably get pregnant ONCE.

SO, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!

anything on the market is always a 95% success, the rest you are screwed, but if you start the controls a week in advance you should be fine, just make sure to keep up with the rules. in india it is said if you eat a papaya each day everyday, thats also a form of birth control.not sure which is safe abstenance, always work.

THe pill is not going to prevent pregnancy just yet. Wait a while longer. A condom is usually sufficient. I've never tried spermicide but I guess it's good to have an extra since your pill hasn't kicked in yet. I say your good. :) Also, have him pull out before he cums.

I'd wait a month after starting BC before having sex, but a condom is a MUST HAVE.
But understand, the best way to prevent pregnancy is to remain abstinent!

wow, you're very cautious. (its not a bad thing) however, i dont think you need to stretch that far to be safe. a condom should be just fine

Should be fine. You can get a condom laced with spermicide. Natural skin condoms are less likely to break, too.
