Mercury Containing Fillings and Pregnancy?

Hello, I have had the silver fillings fillings in my teeth for quite sometime. I also have the white feelings. I am not sure if my silver fillings contain mercury (I have had them since the 90s).
I am 12 weeks pregnant and concerned if my feelings are proned to hurt my developing baby...
I figure that our mothers had the same thing and most of us came out just fine.
Should I go to the dentist and have this checked out?

Unless you have a filling that is leaking, amalgam fillings [the silver ones] will cause no harm to your baby, however there is no harm in visiting your dentist to put your mind at rest! Also if you have an NHS dentist you get treatment for free while pregnant and for 1 year after birth!!! Also.. congratulations!!! x

Your amalgam restorations do contain mercury but it is tied up so it won't harm you or your forming baby. There is NO evidence ever presented which shows amalgams are harmful. In fact, every dental restoration with the exception of gold contains elements which, if taken in enough quantity will cause problems [of course, water will kill you also if one drinks enough]. So don't worry about your mouth you have enough to think about.
