Painful intercourse during pregnancy what causes it? how do i get it to stop?

Your cervix is very sensitive, more so during pregnancy. Your cervix does not like to be poked or bothered (think pap smear). To eliminate this, try a position that will allow less penile penetration.
During pregnancy, sex may be uncomfortable, but should not be painful.
Another common reason for pain during pregnancy is psychological reasons. When women feel scared about sex in terms of it possible hurting the pregnancy or baby, lubrication lessens and the vagina tends to tighten up. If this is the case, remember sex is safe during pregnancy (unless your MD says otherwise). In fact feeling good from sex reduces stress and increases blood flow, both good for baby!

You didn't state how far along you are, but the further along you are the lower the uterus can reach, and the shorter the vaginal barrel can become.
A good solution for many is for the woman to be on hands and knees and the husband approaching from behind. This gives the mother a bit more control and the husband a little less depth without loss of sensation.
Sex during pregnancy is fine with some extra control and care. It is also beneficial due to the fact that seminal fluid can kill bacteria in the birth canal and can soften the cervix (opening to the uterus, what must open from pencil lead size to 10 cm before birth can occur) and aid in an easier birth when it's finally time.

if it is only during certain positions like doggy for 1, then it hurts because he can enter you deeper and it hits your cervix, which kinda hurts in general but during pregnancy it HURTS. like get the hell off of me kinda hurt. lol, if it's not that, like it hurts constantly no matter what, then you should talk to your doctor, because it could be a number of things.
