Pregnancy tests..i dont understand?

if you have sex a few days after your period, do you have to wait another 4 weeks to do a pregnancy test after your missed period? or can you take it say 2 weeks after unprotected sex?

No, the pregnancy test relies on a certain minimum rise in HCG levels, human chorionic gonadotrophin. These elevations are usually not detectable until 2 or 3 days after your period is missed.

If you have sex a few days after your period and your period isn't due for another 4 weeks then it was very likely way too early to get pregnant. You don't ovulate until about 2 weeks before your period, you can only get pregnant within the 5 days before or during ovulation (sperm can live up to that long, though they may not live that long). It takes about 7 to 10 days for implantation to occur and can take a few more days till your hcg is high enough to come up on a pregnancy test. So if you had a 28 day cycle and ovulated on day 14 (everyone is different...this is just an example) the egg would implant somewhere between day 21 and 24 and within a few days of that you would be able to get a positive test. The reason you should wait till a missed period is because not everyone has a cycle that is exactly like that.

well of course you could be pregnant anytime after you have unprotected sex.
well fir the best results, you should take the test 1 week after your missed period (when you were due on). if you take it earlier, your hormone changes (which ulitmately decide if you are pregnant or not), may not be strong enough, and you may get the wrong result in the test.
