Panic attacks during pregnancy and relief?

To put a long story short... I'm 20 weeks pregnant, keep having panic attacks and just want relief!

I'd like to know how to prevent them, but the problem with that is that I'm not sure what triggers them! They pretty much come out of no where. I don't think I've met anyone else that has random panic attacks, is this common?

I've had anxiety/panic disorder for about five years, so it's nothing new.

Anyone else have this problem? How did you deal?

I have severe anxiety/panic attacks for about 2 years now...you don' t know how much I hate it. First time I had it, I seriously thought I was going to die. After that, I started reading and researching about it and finally understand I'm not alone with this but it's just the weirdest feeling. And I also kind of know how to cope with it...I just had mine today at work while I was going down the stairs out of no where...I thought I was going to pass out...when I realized I haven't passed out, I went to get myself some water, take deep breaths and say to myself that nothings gonna happen to me and I just gotta relax. Sometimes I swear I think I'm going crazy. I don't take any pills for it...though my doctor did want me to take Lexapro, and even though I'm not a fan of takings pills, I tried it but realized that it was getting worse. I haven't taken therapy for it either though I heard I should. It's really hard though because when you have it, you just want the feeling to go away and when you don't have it...you can't have fun and enjoy life because you're just waiting for it sneak right back on you!

All I can say is try to be relaxed and see that you're in no danger. Also try to distract yourself all the time. Have your family and friends help you out :]

Here are a few testimonials on the subject form women who were in your place and how they handled it.

If you are wondering what the triggers are, you are currently running high on endorphins and estrogen, and you have a parasite called a baby making you sick and uncomfortable. You could also be turning diabetic during your pregnancy and all of these could create higher than usual anxiety.

Go see you doctor, have a blood test, and see if s/her thinks a low dose anti depressant is recommended.

Good Luck.
