My ankles and feet swell a lot since my first pregnancy? |
I have two childen a 2year old and a 3year old I gianed a little weight with both but I'm not what you consider fat i'm a african amarican and i know we suffer from high blood presure and sometimes that can be a cause my presure gets high sometimes but not nothing serious can someone tell me if there going through the some thing and why I had this problem for many years. It called High B/P. Your feet hands and legs and face will swell if you retain enough water in your system. It is best to get this under control now, I waited and my B/P did some damage to my Kidneys and liver a lack of potassium will cause problems with your heart.High B/P can cause a drop in your potasssium levels and then you r in trouble. It can cause strokes and many other illness'. Please have yourself checked you're to young for all thoes problems and your kids need you around for a long time. Take Care and let me know what happeneds Feet swelling with a history of high blood pressure can be a sign of beginning heart failure. Do you not get enough exercise and eat too much salt and fat? Cut the salt and get exercise that works the heart. Swimming is the best,it exercises every muscle in the body. Good Luck!! Nurse Just a suggestion, get your urine checked for protien. Renal failure in pregnancy is quite common, you retain water, may urinate less or more (depending upon the stage you at). blood pressure is also a factor as your kidneys regulate fluid in the body and and blood pressure. Are you anaemic? low blood count is also a sign as the kidneys produce the enzyme that causes bone marrow to produce red blood cells. I have renal failure due to pregnancy, my ankles were massive in the last weeks of my pregnancy from fluid retention. Don't panic. tell your GP your concerns Dear: If You suffer from high bleed pressure already, have 2 previous pregnancies, and african american ancestry, your swelling could well be indicating pre-eclampsia. The next step besides watching your weight, blood pressure and face every morning looking for "puffiness" or swelling of the face, you MUST have your urine tested for proteins (especially albumin) because the pre eclapsia is a strong possibility in your case.-(I dont want to sound alarmist but I really mean you need a urine check up) Yours very sincerely Garfield526 I am a neurosurgeon (I am serious) |
