What can u do to not gain 'unnecessary' weight during pregnancy? |
What can u do to not gain 'unnecessary' weight during pregnancy? Careful with the quantity of food, not only with the quality. During the first 3 months you don't need more food than you normally eat, during the first trimester you need about 200 calories more daily and during the 3 trimester - about 500 calories more daily. Do you know how easy it is to get those extra 500 calories - eat a whole chocolate bar of 100 gr and you are done!! That's why you should be careful with sweets, nuts (which are a good food but have lot of calories) and simple carbohydrates - like white bread or white rice or cakes which have both sugar and white wheat. They give you a lot of empty calories - they turn into fat but do not feed your baby. So eat healthy and within normal limits. Do not starve yourself and your baby though. It's better to gain more weight than not gain enough. Swim every day. I cannot overemphasize how good that is for a pregnant woman. Of course, take care not to get too chilled. Good luck with that one. I started out at 125 and when i gave birth, I weighed 185!!!! I wasn't eating like a pig or anything. Some women just gain weight. Just don't worry about it if you gain weight, you're pregnant, you have a beautiful baby growing inside of you, making all the weight worth it. Ask your OB/GYN for some tips on exercises that you can do while being pregnant. Take it easy and don't wear your body out. Enjoy pregnancy, it is wonderful!! Until, of course, that last month when you just want to scream. LOL. Congratulations on your pregnancy! Good Luck and Best of Wishes!!!! Take dates as much as you can to keep yourselftrim and the baby compact it's hard because at some point you're constantly hungry and it doesn't help that food tastes so good when you're pregnant. when i was pregnant, the doctor wanted me to gain 25 pounds but i only gained 19. because i was already overweight, i didn't want to gain that much. the only thing i did was eat 3 or 4 pieces of fruit every day and i ate 3 salads every day. this was in addition to everything else i ate (which, by the way was some of everything!). i also walked about 5 days each week. i loved watermelon and pineapple when i was pregnant and ate a lot of it. i hope this helps.many blessings for an easy delivery! dont eat for two, just eat an extra half on top of what you normally eat .. avoid fatty foods and do light, easy exercises like swimming, light walking, etc Of course you need to eat healthily, but don't need to eat for two! Cut down on sugar (like pop) and salt. Avoid processed foods - prepackaged stuff. Make sure you are getting regular exercise - whatever is right for you in your circumstance. If nothing else, walk, walk, walk.... Eat lots of fruits and veggies (healthy and keeps you "regular" which sometimes pregnant women have a prob with), and lots of whole grain products. They make you feel fuller. Don't feel bad about giving into cravings if they come -- it's temporary! Good luck, and remember the average weight gain is 25 to 35 pounds - your doc. will help monitor you. |
