What could be the cause of persistent nausea, aside from pregnancy?

I have experience moderate to severe nausea continuously for the 8 days. The feeling is constant, and I have not found anything to relieve the discomfort. I just finished my menstrual cycle five days ago, and since the nausea started before my period ended, I really do not think I'm pregnant (plus, I'm on birth control pills). In the past few days, I also started to experience extreme fatigue, some body aches, chills and occasional fever. I would just think that it is the flu, but it seems weird that the nausea symptoms started at least five days before the fever, body aches and other flu-like symptoms set in. I have only had the urge to throw up several times, and have managed to hold it back. What could be the cause of such persistent nausea??

This sounds a lot like the symptons of Gall stones. If your pain mainly stays on the right side of your chest area with occaisionally radiating to other areas, your body maybe trying to pass a gall stone. This is where your gall bladder is located. Symptons include, amongst pain, fever (if you have an infection), and nausea and vomiting.
Avoid eating foods like peanuts, tomatoes, and byproducts of these. This may help to eliviate the symptons.

Another possibility maybe food poisoning. Many times food poisoning has similiar symptons to the flu, although, I think after five days you would be over the worst of it.

In any sitution, you should go and see your Dr. She or he is the only one who can possibly deterimine what is going on. Source(s): Had gall stones and food poisoning
Mono
GERD
Anemia
Hormone Imbalance
Pregnancy even if it is low on the list needs to be ruled out
Kidney Infections
Any systemic infection
i think an inner ear infection
1. bad sinus infection with drainage into stomach.
2. reaction to new medication.
3. taking too much aspirin or NSAI drugs with lining of stomach forming ulcers.
4. anemia accompanied by a bad cold.
5. you could have the flu
6. Nervous condition

See a doctor, it is the best now that it has been 8 days
It might be from the pills..but why would you hold back the throw up?! When you throw up it makes you feel way better. You might be holding in toxins which are making you want to throw up. Your stomach knows when its right to throw up. Throw up next time you get the urge it might juust make a difference.
