Can prenatal vitamins make you have a false positive at home pregnancy test? |
I have been taking prenatal vitamins for a week or so and missed a period. I have had very tender and swollen breasts. I Toulk an at home pregnancy test, ept, and it said that i was pregnant, so i toulk another and it said i was pregnant as well. i just wondered can prenatal vitamins cause it to show a false positive? please let me know no they cannot. the only thing that makes a positive HPT is the presence of the HCG hormone which is only present when you're pregnant. you could possibly get a false positive if you're on any meds containing HCG, but you'd definitely be aware if you were. most of them that contain the hormone are fertility treatments. you're pregnant. wish u better luck than i had. I highly doubt it, prenatal vitamins are the same as any other multi vitamin, just have higher concentrations of some of the minerals and vitamins. They don't make your body "think" your pregnant. Pregnancy test measures hormone levels, not vitamins. NO!! When taking the home pregnancy test it uses hormones in your urine to determine pregnancy. Prenatal vitamins do not contain hormones nor do they stimulate the body to manufacture hormones. |
