What is the best diet for a 2 lb. a week pre-pregnancy diet?

I want to get pregnant in august but I need to lose around 40 pounds in order to avoid having a miserable pregnancy. I talked to my doctor and she just said diet and exercise...

Weight watchers is great and if you only want to lose 2 lbs a week, it's definitely doable.
2 llbs a weekk is a lot unless you are really over weigth you need to eat right believe it or not that will help you get pregrnat too. You just need to be active. little things help a lot when you are lossing weight walk instead of take a car (if you can) walk up and down stair instead of elevator. Also if you do go somewhere park as far awy as possable (in the parking lot) then talk. That way it does not really feel like you are exercising. If you really do what to lose that much you do need to be on a real exercise program. Join a gym they are fun
For only 2 lbs a week (It's good to see someone asking about how to lose weight healthfully) just eat more veggies, fruits, whole grains etc and stop eating fatty, sugary, and other junk foods. I follow a healthy diet during the week and allow myself to have something not so healthy at one meal or day during that week (this helps to keep your metabolism up). I've been easily loosing 2 lbs a week with little to no effort by simply eating healthy. If you are lucky, that may be enough to lose the 2 lbs per week till August, however usually exercise will be required further into the diet. Being in shape will also help during the pregnancy so you should make a point to take a walk for about 15 or 30 minutes a day and maybe work up to jogging a little. The main idea is just to move around more, this could also be done by doing more chores around the house and preparing the baby's future room.

If you need a structured plan, you could try slim fast, it's cheap and they have on-line free help. Shake for breakfast, healthy snack, shake for lunch, healthy snack, then a sensible dinner and another light healthy snack before bed time if you need it. Very simple to follow, just make sure to have the snacks so you won't feel like you are starving yourself. I suggest the optima brand because it has a lot less sugar than regular slim fast. They also have a low carb version, however, that would require you to follow a low carb diet which can be kinda difficult if you really like breads.
try weight watchers. I'v lost 6 pounds on it in the last month. Sometiems it's hard though. It works on a point system so you don't need to count calories and you can eat whatever you want but just not in a large quantity. Also it makes you exercise it's a good motivator because you can eat a bit more if you exercise everyday. Exercise is worth points too. I'm doing in online but apparently going to meetings with actual real live people is supposed to work better. Good luck with losing weight and getting pregnant in August.
