Has anyone out there ever had a heavy menstrual cycle in early pregnancy? |
I know that I have heard of it being the norm for some women - but I am just curiuos.... Call your doctor immediately. Progesterone is the hormone that is basically maintaining the thickness of your uterine lining during pregnancy (increased progesterone levels causes your uterine lining to thicken) When you have your period, it means that progesterone levels decreased and therefore, it is unable to sustain the thickness of the uterine lining. As a result, the dead cells of the thickened uterine lining flows out (when you get your period) and your uterine lining will return to its normal thickness. During pregnancy, the uterine lining should remain at a certain thickness in order to protect the baby. Source(s): Grade 9 biology Call your doctor immediately. I have and it was a miscarriage. The doctor told me that they are not always miscarriages (about 50%) and they can occur because your body does not have enough of the pregnancy hormone in it yet. It can also happen if you had 2 eggs and only one was fertilized and then there are a handfull of women that have periods throughout their entire pregnancy. You shouldn't be having ANY menstrual cycle during pregnancy. Call your doctor now! Yup - it's called a miscarriage Actually, you can have a period all through your pregnancy. I did with 3 of my 5 kids, once a month, 3-5 days, all nine months. In some women, this is normal. Of course it is best to be checked out by a doctor. Only he can determine what is going on. |
