My period is 8 days late but I got a negative read on a pregnancy test? Any other possibilities? |
Other info: -I'm 16 and sexually active -I have been menstruating since age 10 -The pregnancy test was taken on the 6th late day -I've been sick with a cold lately At this point it would be too early for a test to be definitive. The best time to test is at least 2 weeks after a missed period, and a blood test done by your doctor is the most accurate way of testing. Two weeks gives the body enough time to produce an adequate amount of pregnancy hormone that is detected by a test. Other reasons for period abnormalities include stress, weight gain/loss, thyroid, hormonal imbalance, infection, illness, medications, polyp, cyst amongst other reasons. If the blood pregnancy test comes back negative your doctor can do further testing to determine what the exact cause may be. In addition condoms are about 85% effective in preventing pregnancy, even when used correctly so pregnancy is still possible. Only abstinence is 100% effective in preventing pregnancy. Source(s): I am a nurse for over 22 years well when i missed i took a urine test it came back neg. but when i took a blood test it came back pos. so you decide but for ur sake i hope not ur to young and life is just beginning be smart use "PROTECTION IF YOUR GONNA BE ACTIVE HELLO" may be b coz of pills reaction etc. you need to wait for antother five to ten days Well, it could be stress of a few other things, but if you haven't gotten it soon, go to a planned parenthood or something like that and go get a blood test. Fake negatives are pretty common this early on. You need to get to a doctor and get it figured out. If you are afraid to tell your parents you should not be sexually active. Your health is nothing to mess around with! when I was 16, I was sexually active too, but I only got my period twice that year. And it scared me too and thank god I wasn't, but the doc. said it was normal in some girls for my age... then he and my mom put me on the pill to get them correct. I'm 36 now with one boy and I had him at 20 years old and I was on the pill too, so please be very careful, if your going to be sexual active please PROTECT yourself |
