If you start taking the pill on the first day of your next period, you are safe to have sex after 7 days. For the first seven days, if you are having sex, use a condom. Although you're less likely to have sex then as you'll be on your period. Source(s): doctor you should refer to the instruction leaflet with the pill, i think its does take some time before you are fully protected, i'd advise using another form of contraceptive as well, also some antibiotics make the pill not work, also is you have a sickness bug the pill may not work yes, wait one month, up to your next full cycle. Also, ALWAYS use a secondary method, such as a condom to prevent STD's. You need to take them at the same time each day, and for at least 7-10 days for them to be effective. If you have diarrohea, vomiting, forget one or taking antibiotics at any time while taking them , your contraceptive WILL NOT be effective. You need to wait another 7-10 days before you are protected again They do start working quite soon depending on which pill you are taking but doctors do advise you to use other precautions for the first month. take at-least 7 to 10 days and please always know that we no longer prevent pregnancy only AIDS.... |
