Can you use a heating pad to ease cramping during the first trimester of pregnancy? Will it cause issues?

I used a heating pad during my last trimester. Just use it on the low setting with a couple of towels inbetween. The reason that they say not to use excess heat (pads, hot tubs, baths, etc) is because it raises the body temp which could possibly harm the baby. NOTE: DO NOT take any kind of Motrin, Midol, etc that has ibuprofen; it restricts the blood flow to the baby. If the cramping persists make sure you get it checked out!!!
