What is a response to a teenage woman who refuses to gain weight during her pregnancy? |
This is for a Nutrition Assignment Critical Thinking Questions she needs to get help, it could possibly cause a worse case post-partum deppression, if she doesnt stay healthy during pregnancy, he baby is going to take all its nutrition from her so the food she eats goes straight to the baby, it'll make her "weaker" i guess you could say, make sure she takes pre-natal vitamins, she needs to stay healthy!!! good luck, carolyn Source(s): im 4 1/2 i've only gained 10 pounds, but i eat lots of veggies and fruit, it wont cause her to gain wait try talking her into that lol your baby is going to get sick lol If she's reported Social Service would intervene. If she isn't, the baby will have serious health problems if he/she makes it. that depends on her and her body. if she is eating and still not gaining weight then she should go and see the doctor but if she is just not eating then that is abuse and she should be reported. You tell her that she can remain at a certain weight, or she can have a baby, but she can't have both. Make it clear that she will kill her baby if she doesn't allow herself to gain weight. It's blunt, but necessary. I would try to find a medical paper or article on the subject of the nutritional and dietary needs of the fetus. Being a teenager, the woman may have no idea of the harm that could be caused by malnutrition. The information provided might also provide examples of the diseases, and malformed systems (brain and neurological disorders, blindness, etc.) not to mention physical deformities possibly caused by nutritional deficiencies. There are many dietary options that would ensure a healthy growing baby and, at the same time, be very healthy for mom. |
