Can I take painkillers or other medications when i'm in the first 3 weeks of pregnancy? |
I would like to know what to do during my pregnancy, for how long I "shouldn't take medicine pain killers for the safety of the concieved? Always ask you OB but there is a chart that lists what certain medical organzitions have GENERALLY approved for both pregnancy adn for breastfeedign at www.kellymom.com . If I find the specific page Ill add it back. Here, it's off of this page.... http://www.kellymom.com/health/meds/inde... you shouldnt take anything that your DR doesnt give the OK on. as soon as you know you're pregnant you should stop..if you are having pain or sickness you need to talk to you OBGYN and get what meds they approve or prescribe you to take only. I would consult with your doctor to what OTC you can take. It's better to be safe than sorry. Pretty much pain meds are out during the whole pregnancy. You even have to be careful about cold medicine, Ibuprofin, Antibiotics etc. I believe the only thing they say is safe is Tylenol. BUT CHECK WITH YOUR DR> BEFORE YOU TAKE ANYTHING!! the only pain killers safe during pregnancy are paracetamol (i think its called tylenol in america) No other medication should ever be taken without prior advice from you doctor to check if its ok or not. no ibuprofen, codine or asprin is recomended at all during pregnancy . please speak to your doctor is you have any concerns about which meds are safe to take . Take NOTHING without consulting with your obstetrician first. PARTICULARLY in the first few months of pregnancy. During these first few months, the baby is forming all of his or her most vital organs, limbs, features, everything. It's a very delicate balance, and anything you put into your body can mess this up. Talk to your doctor before you take so much as a Tylenol. You should not take anything other than Regular Strength Tylenol and your prenatal vitamins during your pregnancy unless otherwise prescribed by your physician. |
