What is the best diet plan for a new mother who gained about 57 lbs during pregnancy?

What is the best diet plan for a new mother who gained about 57 lbs during pregnancy?

I gained 55lbs while pregnant.

I breastfed, so I couldn't really diet because it would've affected my milk supply, but I did cut out all junk food and soda/pop. I didn't start actually dieting/working out until my son was over a year old.
Keep taking your prenatals and avoid greasy, fatty foods, junk food, and sugary drinks like soda / pop. I snacked on fruits like red grapes throughout the day and drank TONS of water. I ate a lot of lean meats like fish and chicken and one of my favorite fillers was Miso Soup. The only thing is, it's high in sodium. It's delicious. I also walk a lot. I take my son for a walk for an hour or so, depending on what he'll tolerate. I also go to the gym when I can and do 30 minutes of cardio. You can do that at home too if you get a good video. I found a great one on a clearance shelf at Walmart. It's called Cardio Kickboxing. It's awesome.
My son is 2 years old now, and I am 6lbs below my pre-pregnancy weight, even with not sticking with my diet 100% and not starting until he was 18 months old.
It depends - if you're breast feeding, I don't recommend dieting yet. A nursing mother needs even more calories than when she was pregnant. And nursing is definitely the BEST way to lose the baby weight quickly.
If you aren't nursing, the best thing as a new mom would be to nourish yourself thin. Eat well-balanced meals often & make the nutritious most of your snacks. Exercise, exercise, exercise. And get as much sleep as you possibly can - it will keep you from stress eating. Congratulations!
2 babies & looking better than ever!
After baby is born, remember:

Quick weight loss is unhealthy and usually does not last.
Losing weight will take some time.
Losing one pound per week is safe.
Exercise can help you to lose weight. Ask you doctor what kinds of exercise you can do.
What can I do to help me lose weight after my baby is born?

Eat at least six servings of breads, cereals, pasta and rice every day.
Eat at least five fruits and vegetables every day.
Try skim or 1% milk and low fat cheeses.
Eat low fat meats that are baked, broiled, or steamed instead of fried.
Drink plenty of water.
Exercise.
What can I eat when I don鈥檛 have time to cook?
With a new baby, you may feel like you never have time to cook. Here are some quick and healthy ideas:

Cereal with skim milk and fruit.
Fresh or canned fruit with low fat yogurt.
Low fat cheese with low fat crackers.
Tuna, ham, or turkey sandwiches.
Pre-cut vegetables.
Microwaved baked potato topped with canned chili beans.
What about sweets, chips, and deserts?
You deserve a treat once in a while! Just don鈥檛 overdo it.

Buy them only occasionally.
Eat small portions. Take out only what your plan to eat.
Eat them after a meal when you鈥檙e less hungry.
It is important to balance proper nutrition for you and your baby with your busy schedule. Use these tips to strive for good nutrition!

If you are nursing, I would recommend dieting until you STOP nursing. But if you arent nursing, try ONE OF MANY high protein, low carb diet

Some people get over-board with these type of diets though. These diets does are allow u to have "good carbs". Just eliminate "bad carbs" such as french fries, potato chips, white bread, white rice. Replace them with a baked potato, wheat bread, whole grain brown rice.

Try to eat foods that are grilled, roasted, boiled, or broiled instead of fried. No ice cream. More green vegetables. less red meat, more poultry and seafood.
Eat five small meals a day. Eat meals low in fats and sugars, high in protein, and high in fiber. Supplementing with fiber is very beneficial. As a rule never consume more than 5 grams of fat and 10 grams of sugar in any snack or meal. Drink lots of water. Protein shakes and snacks can be a good alternative also. Don't forget to walk and exercise.
