What hormone is released by orgasm in a woman and why would that be significant in pregnancy?
Oxytocin is released, if I remember right. It's also the hormone that is released in labor. Pitocin is the medical version of oxytocin, used to augment contractions during labor and to contract the uterus after birth. I'm not sure what exactly you are asking. However if you are talking about the icreased likely hood of getting pregnant when you have an orgasam that is because it is a muscle spasam that includes the cervix which causes it to dip down into the sperm filled semen and help it travel to your uterus that much quicker and easier. At least that's what they said on the Discovery Channel show the anatomy of sex.
