During the week that i take the 7 'reminder' pills with Birth Control, am i still protected against pregnancy? |
I take Birth Control Pills. They come with 21 'active' pills that i take for 3 weeks, then 7 'reminder' pills that i take for 1 week. I am suposed to get my period during that week, but i dont always do. If i have sex during the week i am taking the 'reminder' pills, am i protected against pregnancy the way i am when i take the 'active' pills? you can'y get preg. because you are on your period that week. You don't even have to take them as long as you start the next pack on time Yes. Those pills are actually just "sugar pills" and don't have the horomones in them. During those 7 days you are probably on your period. Since all birth control pills are different, ask your doc that precribed the "7 reminder pills". umm yes you are protected. you dont have to take the extra reminder pills in fact you can start another cycle and not have a period. those pills are so that you still have a period and feel normal and dont forget to start taking pills again after 7 days. I think the "reminder pills" are inert. There is no medicine in them. They are there just so you don't break the cycle of taking the pills and forget to start back. I understand that you can still get pregnant while on your period but i think it's unusual. If you really don't want to get pregnant, you may want your partner to use a condom in the time period that you're taking the reminder pills yes you are. the pill protects for the whole time you take it. |
