Accidental Pregnancies? |
I asked a question like this one many months ago, people were naive then, just wondering if they are now? Accidental pregnancies? Ive had an active sex life for years and always been safe and therefore no child has resulted in my good times, so therefore I strongly believe theyre is no such thing as accidents of this kind - there are 18 forms of contraception one night stand - take the morning after pill couples - you lot really dont have any excauses when theyre so many to choose from am I still the only one who thinks like this? Well I'm glad that contraception has always worked for you. Not everyone is so lucky. A few years ago I got pregnant while on birth control pills. I took it everyday, the same time everyday. I was not on medication. Do I have an excuse for an accidental pregnancy? Yes, you're the only one I've ever heard of that thinks that contraception is 100% effective. Not even the science nor the stats back you up. NOTE: First pregnancy happened in 3rd year university in health related field. Come from upper middle class family, both parents university educated. As well, I'm Canadian and have "free" health care. I doubt I got pregnant for lack of education, money or health care services. No, you arent. Keep in mind though, some people lack the education. Most people dont know how items like the sponge, contraceptive film, gel, foam, and female condom work. These people dont have access to health care and even if they do, they are embarassed to ask. There are things like language barriers, age, socioeconomic backround and religion to take into consideration. I, personally, happen to agree with you, but it's not nice to get up on a "high horse"...things happen sometimes. For an educated person yes, unfortunately there are to many people who don't tell their kids anything about contraceptives and even block them from learning about it in school. They tell each other things like "you can't get pregnant the first time" or "if you have sex in the shower you won't get pregnant" The list goes on. Then there might be an occasional case of condom breakage that the man doesn't mention, but I think that would be rare. mm- well i had one.. with a partner - can't take pill due to medical reasons, but used condoms.. guess what - fell pregnant - lost it was welll. How - the manufacturer recalled the brand we were using due to faulty production - SO yes - Accidents do occur.. And sorry - not naive.. MM- ok - as per below comment re me being naive.. Well - when you can't use any other method since history of PID and migrianes - some things are difficult - Including age - so can't get tubes tied (which isn't always 100%) and so isn't having a guy fixed (not always 100%).. So when you use condoms - as only method offered to you - which has a spermicide in it - and it fails (especailly since was recalled from Well known manufacturer) IT makes it hard.. SO sorry to take offense - but not naive.. Some people aren't allowed the option to have uterus removed if considered by specialist to be of "child bearing age" Um...not to be offensive, but you seem to be the naive one! Condoms CAN have holes that go unnoticed, especially in certain countries were the quality is poor. No hormonal form of contraceptive is 100% effective even when taken properly. Vasectomies dont always work and I know of several women who have got pregnant after tying their fallopian tubes. So, no I dont agree. Even sterilisation is not 100% guaranteed, so yes you can have accidental pregnancies. Alot of people who have "accidental pregnancies" though probably use no contraceptives at all, which is then not an accident !!! |
