Would pregnancy be bad for my hypoglycemia?

My step great-grandmother had a diabetic daughter who just recently passed away. Her daughter started out hypoglycemic as a child at a very young age. Similar to her, I was born with hypoglycemia, gluten-intolerance, and have developed a lactose-intolerance. Around thanksgiving last year, I talked to my step-great-grandmother about not really wanting a child anytime soon. She advised me carrying a baby could be hard on my health, and could cause me to permanently become diabetic (not just gestational). I'm already constantly hungry.

My husband and I have been contemplating having a child sometime in the next 2-5 years. I know my diet would be extremely good for the child. I consume no sugar whatsoever (or sweeteners). I eat plenty of produce, take multivitamins, calcium citrate, etc. Due to my chemical sensitivities I use chemically free personal care products and household cleaners.

I'm also hypoglycemic and i had no problem carrying my child and she came out healthy, I am also starving all the time and eat small healthy food like all the time. That's the secret to keep something in your stomach at all times. If you have any questions about this i'm sure your doctor will give you all the info you need.
It won't hurt you to get pregnant. You would just have to make sure you ate small frequent meals. Diets high in fiber help to control hunger. I have also read that peanuts help. They have fiber in them and protein. Your doctor is really your best resource.
I'm curious, do you have Celiac Disease? What makes you think you're gluten and lactose intolerant? Were u diagnosed as such? Bc most ppl arent actually gluten intolerant, they actually have Celiac Disease. And many ppl wtih Celiac, once they go glutenf ree, are able to eat lactose again. (maybe not in your case.)
I carried my first son fine on the gluten free diet, and am pregnant with my second child now! I can eat dairy and I eat sugar in moderation (no artificial sweetners tho--good call for pregnancy!)
One thought on the hunger may be u are not getting enough protein, good fats or calcium, YOu need the good fatsl ike nuts, avocado, olive oil, etc. Some sugar is good, such as honey, stevia, blue agave.

Well u know we'll say it, see a doc!! I suggest seeing a natural physician and a dietician also to help. Diabetes rusn in my family and I didnt have gestational nor do I have it now, so that doesnt mean u will get it. And plenty of women have diabetes, food intolerances and get through pregnancy!

Best of luck, and feel free to email me with more questions or to vent! :)

Hmm. I read your response and I would certainly want to pursue 2nd, 3rd and even more opinions if necessary. What is happening to you isnt normal. If you are eating the daily recommended calories then you shoul dnot be hungry all the time. Perhaps its a chemical or thyroid problem. Maybe u can find a dietician, natural physician or OB who can help! Best of luck!
