No Periods, No Pregnancies, This has been lasting for 5 years.? |
I got my period when I was 12 years old, I am now 23. For the last 5 years of my life my periods have been touch and go, I can go 5-6 months without getting a period. When I do get a period it is usually so light that I dont have to wear a pad. I've had no pregnancies and I have a yearly pap done. All of my paps have come back normal. I have asked around and people tell me that It could be that I have such a light period that I dont see it or that its normal. My mother and sister are both very fertile with a combined total of 10 pregnancies between them but I cant get pregnant. I have been with my partner for 6 years and dont use protection. For the first 2-3 years of the relationship I was on birth control but got off. Also, when I first started my period I always used tampons and never pads, could this have something to do with it. My question is why do I not have periods? and is this normal? Planned parenthood only tells me that its ok and normal, Im scared, sad and need help! You are probably not ovulating regularly. A menstrual period follows ovulation if there is not conception. It's all related to the cycling of estrogen and progesterone in your body. Sometimes if a person is very overweight or underweight, that will affect the cycling of these hormones. If your periods are very irregular, then so is your pattern of ovulation. That would also explain why you have not conceived. Make an appointment with a GYN provider. Some midwives and nurse-practitioner deal with infertility; some do not. So ASK when you call to make the appointment, so you won't waste your time with someone who will just refer you to someone else. Most likely, they will do some blood work, and then prescribe Provera to bring on a withdrawal bleed (artificial period). Then they will give you Clomid to stimulate ovulation. If you have PCOS, they may treat you for that as well. It's no big deal, nothing fancy. If this doesn't work, they will move on to the more high-tech stuff. Good luck! have you ever had your hormone level tested?, it has nothing to do with tampons. go to a fertility specialist if you want to be pregnant so badly. its horridly expensive. and on top of that most insurance wont pay for that sort of treatment because they think its not needed to be pregnant if you dont get that way normally, you also could have a fiberous blockage in your tubes that keeps the egg from traveling or even a similar blockage in your uterus, you need a really specialized gyno. good luck I hope that the only tampons thing is not the cause because I got my period when I was 11 and have only used tampons. It sounds like you may have polycystic ovaries, which can cause a lack of, or very infrequent periods. It can also cause infertility, so you should get it checked out by a specialist while you're still young enough for fertility treatment. I just recently stopped having periods or mine would skip, but it's due to my psych meds. That lady might be right about the polycystic overies because my cousin suffers it. hi, even if you are not dieting, is your weight low?? if so, you won't have periods, hence no babies. when the body weight is too low, the body stops the periods to save its energy's for taking care of other more important body functions. the slight bleeding you are experiencing could be your body trying to have a cycle/period. i suggest you see a doctor, to see if you are underweight and to check your hormone levels. good luck! :) I know im a guy but i stumbled on this so i'll answer you. My wife didn't have a period for six years, she had polycystic ovaries. She actually produced too much insulin. After minor surgery and an insulin type of pill she wished she could go back. After a year or so she got pregnant. I remember all the times she used to cry about not having kids that's why I answered this ? . p.s. The doctor told us that she basically had pms the whole time so tell your husband I said I feel ya dog ! |
