I had a sibling who was stillborn, will this having any bearing on my future pregnancies?

I had a sibling who was stillborn, will this having any bearing on my future pregnancies?

Causes of Human stillbirths
A large percentage of human stillbirths are of unknown causes (S.A.D.S. Sudden Antenatal Death Syndrome), even in cases where extensive testing and autopsy have been performed. Some of the causes that have been found are:

bacterial infection
birth defects
chromosomal aberrations
growth retardation
maternal diabetes or high blood pressure
maternal consumption of nicotine, alcohol, recreational drugs (excluding cannabis[1]), or pharmaceutical drugs contraindicated in pregnancy
postdate pregnancy
placental abruption
physical trauma
Rh disease
umbilical cord accidents

Looking at the above information I would conclude that your mother having a stillbirth would not increase your risk of having one. Only if you yourself had a stillbirth would your risk increase with subsquent pregnancies. Source(s): www.wikipedia.com, and personal opinion. I am a Certified Medical Assistant for 18 years.
i dont think still borns are genetically passed , but im not a dr.
was it your twin? I dought that it would have anything to do with your children in the future. unless this runs in the family. I would ask your parents about it.. see if they had any other cases in the family besides your sibling..

P.S: I'm sorry to hear that
I'm so sorry. The only way this will effect your pregnancies is if the reason the baby was stillborn was something genetic that was wrong with it. If the baby had a defect inherited by your parents that you could have inherited a gene for.

Don't be worried, though. Most defects can be tested for, and you can have tests run to ensure that you are not the carrier or a "defective" gene that can be passed on. You should not have to be worried.

I am sorry for your loss...
did you ask why the child was stillborn?
My aunt had a stillborn child and it was because the doctor didn't arrive on time to help her give birth and he kept telling the nurses to give her medication to make her wait for him (till he got there). We think the child lacked oxygen and died. So no, I don't think it will have any bearing on your future pregnancies.
It really depends on the reason for the stillbirth. Many are related to cord accidents, but not all. There are many reasons this occurs, and sometimes you never know why. There can be increased rates of stillbirth in the same woman from pregnancy to pregnancy. Your mother would have more to worry about than you as long as there was not a genetic abnormality that caused the stillbirth.
